This world-class variety has also found its place in Brda. It is a variety that adapts very well to different soil exposures and is therefore suitable for various styles of wine. In the Čarga winery, we use Chardonnay for the sparkling wines Donna Regina, Rebus Belo, and Ta Star. It is also bottled as a varietal white wine.
The 2022 vintage comes mostly from the Brce vineyard, which is located on the western side of the Brdice pri Neblem ridge. A smaller part (15%) comes from the vineyard on the plain bearing the name Glerija. Two opposites that complement each other perfectly.
Vinification of the harvested grapes involves a short cold maceration of 18 hours, light pressing, decanting after clarification of the must, followed by controlled fermentation in concrete tanks. A smaller part (10%) is fermented and matured in barrique barrels. After fermentation, the wines are kept for a longer period on the lees, which are stirred regularly.
This Chardonnay has a medium intense golden yellow colour. The expressive and typical bouquet of this variety is characterised by hints of fresh fruit: juicy, ripe apples, pears, and tropical fruits. The youthful bouquet is well rounded by an oily texture on the palate. It is an elegant, long-lasting, and full-bodied wine that perfectly complements white meat, fish or shellfish.
