An international variety that has taken roots well in our vineyards and in the vineyards of Brda in general. On our winery, Merlot is very versatile and is used as a new wine, the base of red sparkling wine, mature wine – Ta Star and as a varietal wine of the fresh ČARGA line.
The terraced vineyards of Pongrat and Vrtič give us a good maturity of the grapes, which is suitable for a longer maceration (21 days). This gives us the extraordinary ripe aromas of merlot and the characteristic velvety structure of tannins. Malolactic fermentation is applied. After the first decanting, it matures for 12 months in barriques that are reused in several stages.
The Merlot has a medium deep ruby colour. Intense on the nose – smoke, ripe black fruits and jam. On the palate, the wine is dry, the structure soft and pleasant, the tannins are mature and smooth. It is a medium-bodied wine with moderate acidity. The flavour is harmonious and long lasting.
