Rumena Rebula also known as Ribolla Gialla (in Italian), is an autochthonous grape variety of Brda that thrives only in the best marl soil. Freshness and drinkability, as well as its versatility as a variety, are its greatest qualities. In the Čarga wine cellar you can taste Rebula in the following wines: the basic house wine and the white wine REBUS, in the classic sparkling wines Donna Regina and in the dessert wine Čarvina. As a varietal wine, it is also available in the ČARGA line.
We grow Rebula in several locations (Draga, Vrtič, Pongrat). A special feature of our Rebula is the pre-harvesting of grapes for sparkling wine production, which allows the best grapes to mature further on the vines.
The harvest is usually the last days of September or the first days of October. Only the exceptionally ripe skins of the grapes can develop the most intense aroma of an otherwise poorly aromatic variety. Vinification involves 48 hours of cold maceration, followed by the first clarification of the must, which is then prepared for fermentation in concrete tanks. This is carried out with autochthonous lees at a controlled temperature (between 14 and 16 °C).
Fermentation is followed by bâtonnage and maturation on fine lees for at least 6 months.
Rumena Rebula is golden yellow in colour, with a particularly discreet bouquet (white flowers, citrus fruits, almonds) and a fruity taste. The pleasant freshness and characteristic minerality of Brda complete a harmonious wine. We recommend it as an aperitif, but it can also be a perfect complement to seafood, fish dishes or simple Brda cuisine.
